SPRINGFIELD ENDODONTICS, LLC
Root Canal Therapy Postoperative Care Instructions
OVER 40 YEARS IN PRACTICE. COMPLETELY PAINLESS EXPERIENCE.
PROMPTLY SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR DENTIST
Now that your endodontic therapy is completed, the root canal(s) have been permanently sealed. Please make an appointment with your dentist to place a final restoration (permanent filling or crown) on the treated tooth.
Please make this appointment 1 to 2 weeks after the completion of the root canal today, as most posterior (back) teeth with root canals will require crowns (caps).
Delay in obtaining the final restoration may result in fracture, decay & possible loss of your tooth.
EATING & DRINKING
You may eat or drink as soon as the numbness wears off. However, AVOID CHEWING on the treated tooth until the tenderness is gone and the final restoration is finished.
TENDERNESS AFTER TREATMENT IS NORMAL
PAIN RELIEF
Your tooth may be slightly tender for a few days up to a few weeks as a result of the manipulation during the treatment. We recommend taking 800mg of ibuprofen (Motrin,Advil) every 6 hours for the first two days following treatment, even if you do not experience any pain. If you are allergic to ibuprofen, take 2 tylenol tablets every 6 hours.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS, PLEASE CALL US AT 610-543-2288.
Your dentist will be informed that your endodontic treatment has now been completed. A report will also be
sent to your dentist within a day of your root canal.
THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING OUR TEAM TO CARE FOR YOUR ORAL HEALTH.
